Designed by Alan Buchanan and built by R J Prior, Burnham on Crouch in 1964 Blue Saluki is a Prior 37.
After our full restoration in 2005 we were very pleased that she was featured in ‘Classic Boat’ magazine.
Since then, her owners have become long term customers and friends of ours. Over time we have replaced her damaged hull planking from electrochemical decay, caused by the original iron strap floors. To overcome this design flaw, we replaced these with bronze.
On her annual visits to our shed for varnishing and painting, we have also fitted a replacement Simpson Lawrence windlass (new type), designed and installed a new holding tank for the heads, and undertaken further planking replacements from a legacy of the old iron fastenings. Thankfully, with bronze replacements all over, we are confident of her continued life as a lovely classic, most recently painted in her new light blue coloured topsides.
