During the Summer of 2021, the National Museum of the Royal Navy made an enquiry asking us to submit a proposal to build a new fighting top.
To be fitted to the foremast of HMS Trincomalee – the last remaining Royal Navy ship to be built in India, berthed in its 18th Century seaport and beautiful waterside setting at the museum in Hartlepool.
We then made a visit to undertake a site survey; to measure everything up, and determine a specification with the customer before we began the build in early 2022. All was completed successfully with the new reproduction top in place to help carry on preserving the ship for many years to come.
This was quite a project, being somewhat different from what we usually do (to say the least), but we were very pleased to have been involved, and to work with the good people who are the NMRN rigging team.
