A Westerman 40, Iris was designed by Nigel Irens and Ed Burnett, and built in 1997 by Covey Island Boat Works, Nova Scotia.
Imported to the UK shortly after her build, she has cruised extensively around the British Isles, and raced very successfully in the Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter fleet, winning the annual regatta on two occasions.
She is the largest vessel that we have ever worked on in the shed; at just over 40 feet length on deck, with 12’7” beam. We decided to erect purpose built staging to allow efficient access and an easier workflow. After establishing a schedule of works to carry out over the Autumn / Winter 2019 period, we undertook very successfully a cockpit fit out, new bulwark design and fitting, and various locker alterations.
Many thanks to the yard staff at Birdham Pool Marina, who carefully lifted Iris from the water, then expertly manoeuvred her in and out of our boatshed.
